Why preservatives and emulsifiers in products

The following are some all natural preservatives and emulsifiers used in our products.  They are necessary to enable you to use skincare products and retain a shelf life of up to 9 months with a texture recognizable in typical skincare:

Cetyl Alcohol  is a natural ingredient derived from coconut, vegetable or palm oil.  Acts as a moisturizing agent to make the skin hydrated without clogging pores.  It improves the texture of cosmetics and improves spreadability.

Germall Plus is a highly effective broad-spectrum preservative and contains no parabens. it is vegan and prevents the growth of bacteria, fungus and mold.  It is denoted as a formaldehyde releaser (people are also formaldehyde releasers) but the % used as a preservative is so small that it is negligent in this application.  In order to sell skincare you must have some sort of preservative and I found this one was the least problematic.

OliveM is a naturally derived emulsifying product from olive oil.  It is gentle enough to use on even the most delicate and sensitive skin.  Increases hydration rate and functions as a emulsifier and thickening agent.

Xanthan gum is a non-comodogenic (won’t clog pores) ph balancer used to thicken or emulsify in skincare.  It is a bacteria found on the leaves of green vegetables.  It is naturally derived and safe for most skin types.  The amount used is very low (.0001-.1%)

Vitamin E is not a preservative though many believe that it is. It is a beneficial antioxidant and anti-inflammatory for the skin.  It also helps with some signs of ageing and is great for acne prone or dry skin and protects skin from damaging UV rays.
